The Amazing Mr Yoyothrower!
Mild mannered elementary school teacher by day, yoyo throwing wizard by night (and weekends!)
Reigning Canadian offstring yoyo champion!
Jeremy McKay started yo-yoing in 2009 along with some of his students – and Mr. Yoyothrower was born. He never goes anywhere without a yoyo on his belt, and now runs the Vancouver Yoyo Club, is President of the Canadian Yoyo Association, and has competed in both national and international competitions.
Mr. Yoyothrower can be found performing over the Lower Mainland of Vancouver – at parades, festivals, corporate events, variety shows, and of course birthday parties, day camps, and workshops. His show brings to life the modern high tech evolution of one of the world’s oldest toys.
Combining his passion for teaching and his passion for yo-yoing is just natural, and in addition to wonderful choreographed yoyo performances, Jeremy loves to show kids of all ages (yes, grownups too) the basics of yo.
Yoyo workshops can be anything from one on one private coaching to groups of 12 (groups in excess of 12 can be accommodated with an assistant). Yoyoing is great for hand-eye coordination, and parents love having the opportunity for their kids to learn a non-digital activity.
A yoyo show and lesson normally lasts about an hour. The show starts with an interactive demonstration and performance of the five different styles of yo-yoing, including the science and physics of how they work. After this, each participant gets their own yoyo to keep and Mr. Yoyothrower guides them through how to do several tricks – putting them on the path to amazing their friends with their yoyo skills!
Yoyo birthday parties are best for kids 5 and up – but don’t think yo-yoing is just for kids - Yoyo workshops make a great team building activity for adults too.

About Mr YoyoThrower
By day, I'm a grade 2/3 elementary school teacher and have been for 7 years now. I reside in Burnaby, BC.
By later in the day and possibly early evening, I'm a professional Yo-Yoer!
What does that mean? It means I spend a lot of time learning and having fun. The Yo-yo is a toy as well as an intense skill and an art form. I've been practicing for almost 5 years now and recently placed 2nd at the 2014 Canadian National Championships and 24th in the world. My background as a teacher gives me a good sense of how to interact with a group and hook an audience.
I have taught 'learn to yoyo' workshops at after school programs and demonstrations at civic events.
I have also trained the cast of a movie! This is a toy for all ages, boys and girls from 3 years to 103 years of age are dazzled and amazed at what can be done with one.
I am the president of the Canadian Yoyo Association and the Producer of the Canadian National Championships
